Great Wall Essay Example For Students

Extraordinary Wall Essay Everything can be connected to everything! This is a definitive anthropological truth. What attracted my to the Great Wall is that the Great Wall isn’t just a physical thing yet it is likewise something that has represented a culture. From a physical boundary to something that built up safe band courses, the Great Wall has represented everything. It speaks to China, in the current and previously. This attracts me to The Great Wall of China. The three administrations that developed the divider were the Qin, the Han, and the Ming. Jawline Shi Huang, the originator of the divider and who the extraordinary nation gets its name after likely wouldn’t of ever anticipated that the divider should be a 4,500 mile long artful culmination that would have ended up being one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World! The Qin divider was worked to keep individuals out, and to keep individuals in. The Han divider was worked as a social symbol and a physical power. It was additionally t he longest administration, enduring 400 and twenty two years. The Han are the ones that reestablished the Confucian writing to China, set up a solid focal government, and set up the main state funded educational system! The Han, being the manufacturers of the second part of the Great Wall broadened and reestablished the Qin divider 300 miles into the Gobi desert. (www.discovery.com) By expanding the Great Wall they freed China up to incredible development of exchange. Exchange of thoughts, information, and physical products. The Ming divider was the last segment to be fabricated. It was worked during a time when China would turn into a world financial force. This divider took an expected 200 years to finish. The Ming part of the divider contained individual posts that at one time held and evaluated one million officers! A monetary force is something that isn't accomplished in one day however after some time through cautious arranging and great initiative. The Great Wall of China is something that has represented a culture for more than 2,000 years! It is a sublime physical structure and social symbol that speaks to a huge endeavor that demonstrates a culture to the world. What I find is the most intriguing about the Great Wall is that it is an anthropologist’s dream. Genuinely, socially, strategically, monetarily, and battle ready, the rundown continues forever. Truly, the divider is a 4,500-mile long structure that spreads land from the Gobi desert to the mountains of Korea! It's anything but a solitary divider however a progression of dividers worked over a period range of more than one thousand years. The divider was manufactured and remade commonly all through the ages. Seventy Percent of China’s populace was associated with building the Qin area of the divider! Distinctive structure methods were utilized to fabricate the divider. For example, a blend of reed, sand, and water blended to frame 4-inch layers individually until the divider was i n full structure; this procedure was utilized in the Gobi desert area. During the Ming administration the divider was assembled utilizing blocks made in furnaces. These blocks are the nature of current stone work blocks. The Ming segment of the divider is the bit of the divider that is known incredibly to present day society as a result of the solidness of the structure procedures. Socially, the Wall is a thing that has been the encapsulation of a portrayal of a general public that has changed gigantically through time. â€Å"No, the divider isn't for present day use; it is an old fossil-the biggest fossil on earth. However, fossils are helpful and honest. It is the separating line between two civic establishments, and between two eras.† (Geil, Page #) These statement summarizes the degree that the Great Wall can be identified with human studies. This is a significant idea. Strategically, the divider is something that has been utilized to threaten, welcome, and avoid individu als, regardless of whether inside the limitations of the divider or outwardly. Shi Huang Ti was a dictator, a stunning pioneer that united societies and transformed them into one. â€Å"†¦the basic social and social solidarity which is China has remained unbroken.† (Clark, 64) He united a general public through power, strongly acquiring every single outside honorable into one focal human progress and compelling them into a city encompassed by dividers. Financially, the Wall has been a thing of incredible achievement. It has effectively drawn exchange courses and even the celebrated Silk Roads. There wasn’t a decision for pariahs to carry anything into the nation without experiencing the Great Wall and its guardians. .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 , .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .postImageUrl , .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .focused content region { min-tallness: 80px; position: relative; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 , .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175:hover , .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175:visited , .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175:active { border:0!important; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 { show: square; change: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-progress: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; mistiness: 1; progress: murkiness 250ms; webkit-progress: haziness 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175:active , .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175:hover { darkness: 1; progress: obscurity 250ms; webkit-progress: mistiness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .focused content territory { width: 100%; position: relative; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: intense; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; text-enrichment: underline; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; outskirt span: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; textual style weight: striking; line-stature: 26px; moz-outskirt range: 3px; text-adjust: focus; text-enhancement: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-tallness: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/straightforward arrow.png)no-rehash; position: outright; right: 0; top: 0; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .ua4 4baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175 .focused content { show: table; stature: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .ua44baa1a7518c9291d5fb6289d626175:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Students got between two universes Essay Aggressively the divider is a showstopper, unadulterated virtuoso. Forty Five Hundred miles in length, guide towers each fifteen to thirty miles, the utilization of smoke signals, and an expected power of one million men! There is nothing that the divider couldn’t stop. â€Å"†¦Greatest resistance structure at any point planned and developed by mankind†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (www.discovery.com) There is no real way to depict it better. The stop and removal of the Xiongnu (Crushed during the Han line), a power toward the north demonstrates this. The divider speaks to all parts of the anthropological culture. The Wall shows what I feel is the best part of humanities; this is everything can be connected together somehow. With the examination of the Great Wall of China and its way of life setting it has lead me to a superior comprehension of the idea of culture and how culture functions. It has done this through a couple of various ways. As a matter of first importance, it has lead me to understand that culture isn't just around a couple of specific things that are genuinely obvious or allegorically justifiable. I presently observe that you can't comprehend something totally without a total examination of the subject; regardless of whether it be an individual, a general public, or a physical thing. Seeing reality behind something is an endeavor that requires thought and an eagerness to be available to everything without exception. We are no different. I accept this, â€Å"We all originate from a similar spot, we as a whole end up in a similar spot, yet were all so unique in the middle of, yet regardless of what happens were no different. Nobody is superior to someone else, be open and fit to be stunn ed by a distinction me and you. Be that as it may, don’t let it fool you. Everybody is exceptional and we as a whole add a stone to the mass of life. The best divider is one that is certain and solid. In any case, this divider must be acceptable; it must have an initial that anybody can go through. In any case, the main individuals that will discover the entryway through are the ones that are eager to be open themselves!† There are such a significant number of perspectives, thoughts, and parts of divider because of its outrageous intricacy, socially and archeologically. Everything can be connected to everything! This is a definitive anthropological truth. The Great Wall is really incredible. Teen Credit Cards free essay sample

Don’t you think life would’ve been simpler on the off chance that you had a charge card when you were more youthful? The vast majority wouldn’t think, however you more than likely would have had a superior future. Given a Visa and appropriate guidance, school destined adolescents would more than likely ability to more readily get ready for obligation. It’s likely that finding out about charge cards at a prior age, perhaps 14 or 15, would help over the long haul. You don’t even truly need to have one, simply find out about the dangers and advantages. Possibly you’re down in your karma, stuck on the unending rollercoaster of Mastercard obligation. Yet, perhaps this wasn’t consistently unavoidable. It’s likely that if your folks permitted you and showed you how to possess a charge card when you were more youthful, you would realize the proper behavior in an obligation circumstance. Numerous guardians should, â€Å"Consider beginning your high schooler off with a charge card attached to your record. Not exclusively will your high schooler acquire your great FICO assessment, yet it will likewise permit you to perceive the amount they are spending. Consider having your high schooler just utilize the Mastercard for crises to begin with, and afterward empower possibly charging what can be covered off when the bill shows up. This ideally will check your teenager from exploiting the Visa, as it is exceptionally simple to let charging escape control†(Tips for your). Be that as it may, you presumably won’t really have to possess a charge card in the event that you don’t accept you’re prepared. Perhaps all you need is a comprehension. † What’s interesting is that it would be incredible if, when you get to school, you quite knew about what charge cards are, the way they truly work, what they need you to do, what they don’t need you to do, and the honest job that they play in your future accounts. It’s one thing to build up a FICO Score, which everyone needs. It’s something else, in any case, to rise up out of school with a terrible FICO Score, which most understudies do today. Since understudies don’t nderstand that when they get one of these charge cards, on the off chance that they go over their credit limit, in the event that they are not on-time in covering their Mastercard tabs, that in certainty that’s answered to the credit bureau†¦One of the least demanding approaches to build up credit, in all honesty, is the point at which you are more youthful, when you are 12, 13, 14, if your folks have great FICO scores, if yo ur folks are dependable, if your folks basically included you †around then †to the entirety of their cards as an approved client, they don’t need to give you a card, they don’t need to tell you that they did that, at that point their FICO scores would turn into your FICO scores. You would build up credit dependent on their history† (Orman). So guardians, that implies at early ages, an adolescents Mastercard is somewhat your duty, and the youngster needs to take in everything from you. Having a charge card isn’t pretty much cash and learning cash the board, despite the fact that that’s what it appears as. It’s additionally about training life exercises like duty. â€Å"Many guardians decide to give their youngster a charge card since it expands their awareness of other's expectations and in light of the fact that it assists with instructing them about taking care of cash. Giving charge cards for teenagers is a protected and helpful path for children to find out about Visas, planning, and general accounts. Learning legitimate cash the executives is a major preferred position for an adolescent and will be valuable in the future† (Garrett). Not exclusively does having a charge card give an awareness of other's expectations, yet in addition a limited quantity of obligation can have positive impacts in a teen’s confidence and self-see. Scientists have had two contending perspectives on how obligation may influence people’s self-idea, Dwyer said. Some have said obligation should have constructive outcomes since it assists individuals with putting resources into their future† (Grabmeier). So even with obligation, possessing a charge card is a compensating experience. Despite the fact that giving more youthful teenagers a Mastercard to help them would be a good thought on paper, some of the time it very well may be dangerous in light of the fact that adolescents presumably won’t know it all, and might wind up in a difficult situation. State, for example, there is a high schooler that accepts they ought to get anything they desire, regardless of what it costs, similar to a $300 shirt, â€Å"That kind of conduct goes into school, where she’s now given a Mastercard, and she currently begins to revolutionary and she purchases everything and anything she needs on that Mastercard on the grounds that she needs to resemble different children, she needs to feel like different children. The reality of the situation is you need to think past that†¦ think past this one sweater or this one, cool arrangement on eBay, or on Amazon, and that you’re setting aside cash. It’s not. Is it true that you are setting aside cash? † It’s, â€Å"Is this a need? Or on the other hand is this a need? † Because when you graduate school, when you are all alone, as life goes further on, you might be the one answerable for the understudy credit obligation that you’ve made (Orman). Not exclusive ly is recklessness now and again a major issue with credit, however there are likewise numerous different risks, for example, wholesale fraud. â€Å"Young individuals, 18-29 years old, are the main objective for personality criminals, as per Quest, an interchanges organization that is attempting to bring issues to light of the issue (Schonberger). Wholesale fraud can occur whenever, and wherever, and a few adolescents probably won't realize how to deal with it on the off chance that it ever occurs. In any case, if an adolescent is shown ahead of schedule by their folks that everything that they do will affect their future, and that the Visa isn’t only a bit of plastic that hands out free cash without any surprises, at that point teenagers would have an a lot littler possibility of compelling themselves into obligation and might be increasingly careful of their charge card wellbeing. The key†¦ is the association of guardians in showing kids how to utilize both credit and charge cardsâ€and in checking their childrens utilization of plastic. You dont give a kid an instrument and state, ‘Plunk around on this for some time a check whether you can figure out how to play,’ she said. ‘The demonstration of giving children a Visa or a charge card isnt going to give them great cash the board propensities . There must instruct and practicing’† (Levine). Guardians consistently assume a significant job in their teen’s training; why stop with school, when you can show something valuable. More youthful individuals ought to get Visas or possibly an instruction in them, since it would apply vital life exercises and set them up for their future. Sending a youngster recklessly into existence without assistance or direction most likely isn’t the best thought. On the off chance that you don’t think your adolescent is prepared for a Mastercard, avoid any and all risks and set them up with a made sure about charge card. Made sure about Visas, where you or your youngsters (or both) store a specific sum into a record, and your kids can figure out how to oversee cash the manner in which most grown-ups do.

Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Essay

Logical research has made considerable progress since the principal utilization of human undeveloped organisms to treat and forestall ailments. The polio immunization was designed in the 1950’s from the utilization of human fetal kidney cells, babies in uteri were utilized to create strategies like amniocenteses and improving information about innate coronary illness in the 1970’s, and in the 1980’s the transplantation of fetal tissue into grown-ups to help with genuine conditions like, diabetes or Parkinson’s (Gold, 2004). While there has consistently been concern and contention over the utilization of human early stage cells, today the discussion is moral. This moral discussion exists in the demolition of human undeveloped organisms so as to utilize them for clinical research. This paper will discuss how two unique speculations; utilitarianism and relativism see this moral issue and the difficult it presents, just as my own perspectives on utilization of undeveloped undifferentiated organism investigate. The hypothesis of utilitarianism figures out what is best by taking a gander at the consequences of a demonstration. As per Mosser (2010, area 1. 7), â€Å"utilitarianism contends that, given a lot of decisions, the demonstration we ought to pick is what creates the best outcomes for the best number influenced by that decision. When taking a gander at the utilization of undeveloped undifferentiated organisms for inquire about, utilitarianism takes a gander toward the final product. Early stage undifferentiated cells can possibly spare lives by relieving ailments and using transplantation. While some utilitarianism’s may even now see the annihilation of these cells as the devastation of human life they perceive that their latent capacity is an obviously better decision, being that this examination can possibly help spare numerous lives. The restriction to early stage undeveloped cell research may have a relativists see. Albeit one individual may see early stage undifferentiated cell look into as right, another may consider it to be off-base dependent on their own moral gauges that have been given by their way of life or foundation (Mosser, 2010). The resistance of undeveloped foundational microorganism look into see the incipient organism as an individual from the day it is imagined, in spite of the fact that it doesn't have any qualities of an individual, it will one day become an individual. The idea of devastating human life has brought up numerous significant issues that can't be replied by science. When does life start? Is a human undeveloped organism identical to a human youngster? Does a human incipient organism have any rights? Might the devastation of a solitary undeveloped organism be advocated on the off chance that it gives a fix to innumerable number of patients? Since ES cells can develop uncertainly in a dish can, in principle, despite everything develop into a person, is the undeveloped organism truly decimated. (The University of Utah, 2012, para. 5) So what moral status does the human undeveloped organism have? To the relativist restriction, the inquiry must be replied by their own ethical perspectives. To all the more likely comprehend the discussion about undeveloped undifferentiated organism inquire about one should initially comprehend the significance of early stage immature microorganism investigate. Early stage undeveloped cells are pluripotent cells that are gotten from the internal cell mass of the human blastocyst (early incipient organism) (Hynes, 2008). Many marvel why the utilization of these cells is so significant in logical achievements. Undeveloped undifferentiated cells are equipped for separating into a wide range of cells in the body. This permits scientists to utilize ES cells to make any kind of cell required for any patient. Many inquire as to why the utilization of grown-up immature microorganisms isn't adequate. Grown-up immature microorganisms are undifferentiated cells found inside the body. These cells just can â€Å"divide or self-restore inconclusively and produce all the cell kinds of the organ from which they originate† (Science, 2012, para. 1). Grown-up foundational microorganism inquire about isn't questionable, as it doesn't require the obliteration of human life to procure them. While grown-up foundational microorganisms have been utilized to effectively treat things like leukemia and related bone/blood diseases, early stage undifferentiated organisms offer a more extensive assortment of treatment alternatives since they can form into in excess of 200 cell types in the body as long as they are determined to do as such (Science, 2012). The two sides of this discussion might be impacted by religion. There are a few religions that see a human incipient organism as having human status from the hour of origination while others state that an undeveloped organism doesn't have full human status before 40 days (EuroStemCell, 2011). The Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and preservationist Protestant Churches are against human early stage immature microorganism inquire about, where Judaism and Islam take a gander at and accentuate the significance of the result that early stage undeveloped cell research can bring (EuroStemCell, 2011). Similarly as with any discussion the individuals who have a similar hypothesis may in any case accept diversely dependent on their way of life, childhood, and strict foundation. I locate that one could be of a specific religion (Catholic) and still view early stage immature microorganism investigate as a superior arrangement than simply disposing of unused undeveloped organisms. The Catholic utilitarian may contend that the it is smarter to use the early stage immature microorganisms from a barrenness center for research to conceivably spare numerous lives than to dispose of the cells as though they were. Then again the Catholic relativist/utilitarian may contend this conflicts with their strict convictions and isn't what is best for the benefit of everyone. As should be obvious in this model an individual may practice more than one hypothesis in their lives. One may have been raised to see early stage undifferentiated organism inquire about, as off-base since it annihilates human life, yet they may likewise see it is an approach to support the benefit of everyone. This is the point at which these sorts of choices, to be possibly in support of something, become an individual battle. Does one conflict with what they were raised and instructed to accept or do they do what they believe is directly for the benefit of everyone of society? Mosser (2010, Section 1. 7) expresses that, â€Å"utilitarianism gives us what is by all accounts an unmistakable and genuinely simple standard to apply to moral issues thus decide the proper activity in explicit cases. † This might be the situation with regards to straightforward choices that are anything but difficult to clarify and legitimize, however with regards to an ethical choice among good and bad utilitarianism can simply manage us and help explain these moral issues (Mosser, 2010). Shockingly this is the reason there is such a warmed discussion with early stage undifferentiated cell inquire about. What one sees as ethically right another sees as ethically off-base? The reasons might be extraordinary, yet the final product might be the equivalent. For this situation one accepts the demonstration of utilizing human incipient organisms for research will help the benefit of everyone where the opposite side accepts not utilizing human undeveloped organisms for research will help the benefit of all in estimation of ethics and what status they see the human incipient organism. Relativism permits one the chance to oblige what their way of life accepts is correct or wrong. It keeps one safe, the same number of individuals are hesitant to communicate their own conclusions and perspectives against anothers sees (Mosser, 2010). Likewise with any moral issue, this hypothesis permits the individuals who don't think enough about it to remain safe and fabricate their perspectives and assessments dependent on everyone around them. This permits one to pass judgment on another dependent on a view that has been procured by shared trait as opposed to realities. This can go the two different ways with early stage undifferentiated organism look into. In spite of the fact that the relativist view can be viewed as the â€Å"popular† see it tends to be incredible on the off chance that one puts together their view with respect to realities and information and not simply the social view. While their will consistently be contradictions about the utilization of undeveloped undifferentiated organism look into I find that their utilization if more advantageous than it is damaging. While everybody is qualified for their own convictions, is it childish to restrict the utilization of early stage cells, which will be disposed of at any rate, since it is viewed as the pulverization of life? I suspect as much. On the off chance that there is an approach to help another later on using early stage foundational microorganisms, why not? I wind up in concurrence with the utilitarianism hypothesis on this issue. It is significant for analysts to proceed with their exploration to support the benefit of all. The examination and analysts must have impediments however.

When he discovered the various Lost Boys had made it over, he started to stroll with them. How To Avoid Getting Scammed on Craigslist

How To Avoid Getting Scammed on Craigslist How To Avoid Getting Scammed on Craigslist How To Avoid Getting Scammed on CraigslistCraigslist is a great way to find almost anything you could want. Just make sure you watch out for scammers trying to find an easy mark!Whether you’re looking for a job, a used bicycle, or an apartment, Craigslist is a great resource. And while the concept of a giant, mostly anonymous online ad site has been incredibly successful, it has also allowed for scammers to play their scuzzy trade. That’s why we spoke to the experts to find out about some common Craigslist scams and for advice on how you can avoid them. This way you can feel safe while looking to sell your couch, adopt a puppy, or order a shipment of extremely haunted dolls.Rent-a-scam.These days, Craigslist is one of the first places people will check when looking for an apartment to rent. You know it, we know it, and, unfortunately, the scammers know it too.“The latest scam that has emerged features homes that are for rent,” warned Justin Lavelle, Chief Communications Office r for  BeenVerified.com (@BeenVerified). “If you’re looking for a place to rent, be warned.Scammers are out there posing as homeowners and copying real listings to post on the classifieds site. They will ask for a deposit to be wired to them. When you arrive to move into your new place, the home is already lived in by the real owners and you’re out of a home and the deposit.”So how can you avoid this underhanded apartment scheme?“View the home in-person,” Lavelle told us. “Do not rent a place without checking it out in person. Scammers usually refuse to meet face-to-face so they will not meet you to tour the house. So if they refuse to meet, this is a clear indication something fishy is going on.”Quickly, to the scam-mobile!Get out of my dreams and into my  â€¦ scam!? Yes, that car on Craigslist may not be all that it appears. Buying used cars in person already leaves you at risk for a lemon, and looking to buy a car online is only more fraught with scam potential.Th ere are no guarantees when you buy a car through Craigslist,” advised Sophie Kaemmerle, Communications Manager for  NeighborWho (@UseNeighborWho). “In fact, chances are that you will never again see the seller once you hand them the cash for the sale.An ‘as-is’ vehicle could come with several issues and once your cashier’s check goes into the hands of the seller, the problems become yours alone. Scammers love these deals. They roll back the odometers, create fake titles, throw a new coat of paint on a faulty car frame, and sell the car.Another drawback is the lack of financing. No financing is available to you as would be if you bought your car from a reputable car lot. There is also the danger of meeting a stranger ‘seller’ with cash in hand. Always make sure you have someone with you if you are meeting someone you met through Craigslist to discuss a car sale.”Scam, baby, scam. It’s not just the car that you have to watch out for. It’s also the stuff you’re plan ning to put inside the car.“Never purchase an item for your infant that involves supporting their safety,” urged Kaemmerle. “Infant car seats deteriorate in time when areas such as the adhesives age, the upholstery may tear, and the padding loses its ability to protect the infant. Once this happens, the infant’s safety is compromised.Scammers have been known to list a used car seat as ‘new’ by simply cleaning the car seat and repackaging it for an unsuspecting consumer. In addition, car seats that have been recalled due to safety issues are also showing up for sale on Craigslist. For those of you who still decide to purchase a car seat via Craigslist, never EVER purchase a car seat that doesn’t include its instruction manual. The manual will not only assist you in using the seat as intended but will also help you verify that you received all the parts in the sale.”Craigslist Scam 2: Bed Bug Bugaloo.Sure, buying a car or a car seat off Craigslist could be pretty danger ous, but at least it isn’t super gross. You know what is super gross to buy off Craigslist? We’ll let Kaemmerle tell you:“Mattresses. Although bed frames and headboards are considered two of the greatest items to get a good price on via Craigslist, a mattress is a different story. A mattress could contain bed bugs, other pests, or even bodily fluid, all undetected at first glance. The Federal Trade Commission states what requirements must be satisfied before the sale of a used mattress. In some states, the mattress must have first been disinfected and the fabric replaced. Other states only allow for the sale of the springs off a used mattress. The requirements vary depending on the state.Unfortunately, these requirements aren’t honored over Craigslist, making your purchase a health hazard.”This might be one of the few scams where you’d be better off not receiving anything at all. She’s got a ticket to scam.Picture this: you want to see your favorite band, comedian, play, or interpretive underwater dance crew, but the tickets are all sold out. You go on Craigslist looking for the tickets and you find them! All good, right?Wrong! Not necessarily all good. Possibly very little goodâ€"or even no good at all!“The sale of counterfeit event tickets is one of the biggest scams to exist on Craigslist,” explained Kaemmerle.“Often, the buyer doesn’t know what the ticket should look like. Consequently, it makes it easy for a scammer to purchase a copy machine and print event tickets that are sold out.Fortunately, services like StubHub, online ticket exchange services that guarantee your ticket, exist for your peace of mind. As such, there’s no reason to buy them off Craigslist and risk being the victim of a scam.”Hell in a sell.So far we’ve only covered how you can get scammed as a buyer. But sellers get scammed too! Here to give you an in-depth perspective on a seller’s view of scammers is Lucas Horton, owner of Valeria Fine Jewelry:“I have b een selling diamond jewelry on Craigslist since 2008 and have probably seen every scam attempted on that site.“The first sign it is a scammer contacting me is that they generically ask if my ‘item’ is still for sale and the text or email includes the item location. Legit buyers ask for the item by name. And their emails arent automated to include your location in it either.“The second signal to me that I am being scammed is bad grammar, spelling, and punctuation. While I deal with foreign vendors all the time who might not have the best English, their mistakes are more colloquial than those of scammers. Scammers generally have terrible English.“A third sign is when they say they are buying the item for a friend or relative who is overseas at the moment.“Another signal is if they offer to pay more than your asking price.  Even offering to pay your asking price is a red flag. Real buyers will ALWAYS try to haggle.“I have also had a guy (successfully) use a C.O.D. scam o n me. A scammer will contact you saying they want to buy something and offer to pay using the FedEx C.O.D. (Collect On Delivery) service. It sounds legit, right? Its FedEx. They claim they will deliver the item, collect a certified cashiers check from the buyer, and then return the check the next day.But if you read the fine print, as long as the ‘check’ says ‘cashier’s check’ on it, the driver will accept it. I took one look at the check and knew it was fake. And there was nothing I could do. The address was a motel and the package was picked up by a courier. I was out $4,500.“The best advice to follow is that if it is too easy to make the sale, it is a scam. And if someone offers to pay with Paypal and you receive an email saying you received a payment, log into your account and make sure the funds are there.Dont ever give out any personal info and try to block anyone that you know to be a scammer. You can also report them to Craigslist.”If you want to report a Craigli st scam, check out the Avoiding Scams section of the Craigslist website.Lightning round. Finally, here are some parting tips from Lavelle to help you spot and avoid Craigslist scammers:“Beware of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Scammers will often deceive victims into thinking they’re good, honest people. They will tell you a believable story about being away on a mission trip or moving away to take care of an elderly parent. They will have you buying into the notion that they are pure good. You may think that you are wise enough and street smart, but buyer or renter beware.“Never wire funds. If someone asks you to wire money through Western Union or another wire transfer business, don’t do it! Craigslist states, ‘Anyone who asks you to wire money or offers to send you a money order or cashier’s check and then asks you to wire money is a scammer.’ Also, never pay anyone you don’t meet in person.“Look for red flags. Most scammers will use a phone number that’s differ ent than your local area. Also look out for poor grammar and spelling. This is often, though not always, evidence of a scammer. They will most likely give you a story about being out of the state or country, making it impossible to meet. These are all red flags.“Run a background check. Run a Craigslist background check or use an app like BeenVerified to check the background on the person renting the house and on the house itself. You are able to find out if the owner/person doesn’t exist or if the home is already owned by someone else.“Never share personal info. Do not reveal your financial information such as bank account, social security number, PayPal account, etc. with anyone. A true renter will have you fill out proper paperwork that does not require this information upfront.“If it sounds too good, it probably is. Never trust a deal that sounds too good to be true. If someone claims a transaction is ‘guaranteed,’ they are likely a scammer.”With these tips, your ab ility to avoid scams will be almost as powerful as the mighty Craig himself! How the World Covered the Solar Eclipse at the Pyramids

A week has passed since the solar eclipse occurred in different regions of the world where it was visible as a partial solar eclipse in Egypt, northern and southern Africa, Europe but it was total in Northern Norway. Egyptians viewed the event differently and in their own way. There was an event held in the first time in the Pyramids area in front of the Sphinx to witness the phenomenon. It was part of Cairo Science Festival sponsored by the Ministry of Antiquities. Interestingly, University and school students were eager to participate in the event, explain to the public how this phenomenon happens and provide special glasses to them ensuring the safety of their eyes. Such event was a great experiential learning opportunity for the students in which they witnessed what they are taught and learnt at schools and universities but with their own eyes. The event was incredibly covered by the local Press and the media. Many TV stations aired it live so that who could not make it would also have the opportunity to witness it. According to Al Ahram newspaper, the culture advisor of the Italian Embassy in Cairo Franko Foor Chiley and the supervisor of the Ministry of Antiquities in the Pyramids area Waheed Kamal participated in that event to celebrate that day and to encourage tourism. â€Å"It is the first time we observe the Solar Eclipse in the Pyramids area in an official celebration sponsored by the Ministry of Antiquities and the Ministry of Tourism.†, said Alaa Ibrahim, associate professor of Space Astrophysics at the American University in Cairo. Not only did the national media but the international ones covered it. The Chicago tribune published a photo from EPA (European Press photo Agency) of students who gathered in the Pyramids wearing special glasses while looking at the partial solar eclipse. Reuters also shared some pictures around the Giza Pyramids of the Egyptian students and families. Under the title â€Å"How the World viewed the Solar Ec lipse†, Spy Ghana News posted photos of the participants who were watching the partial Solar Eclipse. â€Å"Millions enjoy the best eclipse in years†, an article in Euro news casted the light on the crowds that gathered at the Pyramids to watch the eclipse amongst one of the world’s largest architecture. â€Å"The site had special resonances with the eclipse as the sun was a God in ancient Egyptian culture.†, said Alaa Ibrahim. Nevertheless, this eclipse was part of the trifecta of the celestial events. That Friday coincided with March Equinox, the time of the year when night and day are of equal length, and super moon, the moment the moon orbits at its closest to the Earth, and that trifecta would not happen again until 2034. The media left a positive impact towards the event and much attention was given to it. What is needed nowadays is enriching people’s minds and encouraging them to witness such wonderful phenomena that demonstrate the Might and the knowledge of Allah the Great.

Film Review The Movie Crash - 1757 Words

Most people who watch films watch them simply for enjoyment, rarely anyone notices all the work that is done to actually put together a film. Before taking this class I had no idea how much is done by so many different people to make a film flow, to make it engaging and pleasurable for viewers. Now watching films, I pay attention to all minor details and pick up techniques used that I never would ve noticed prior to taking this course, specifically in editing. Editing is one of the major keys that puts a film together in so many different ways. If I brought this up to a student who has never taken a film course I’m sure they would say, â€Å"editing isn t important, all the editor has to do is put shots together†. Is that really all it is? Not even close. In my opinion, without editing, viewers would miss so many important factors that the director and film editor want us to capture in certain scenes or shots. In Paul Haggis’ Crash (2004), there are many intense scenes that use editing, mainly cuts -which is when the camera is focused on one character or sequence, and then changes focus to something else in the blink of an eye- to make the scene flow or to help us notice important details in the scene. The first scene that uses multiple cuts to portray important details is the scene where Officer John Ryan, accompanied by Officer Tom Hansen, pull over Cameron and Christine Thayer because he notices them performing a sexual act while operating a vehicle, but, we soon noticeShow MoreRelatedThe Movie Crash Essay1031 Words   |  5 PagesWriter-director Paul Haggis Movie â€Å"Crash† written in 2004, tells an interconnecting story of what Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Iranians, cops and criminals. Fate Vs Fate Essay - 1401 Words

In this vast and chaotic universe, it is easy to wonder how much control one single human truly has over their own destiny. Is a person’s life dominated by a plethora of choices and consequences or is it already mapped out by a greater force? This question has been discussed since the time of the first ancient civilizations in Mesopotamia. Although it is still without a clear answer ages later, the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Odyssey propose interesting insights into the role of fate and choice in the human experience. Neither the Odyssey nor The Epic of Gilgamesh gives a black or white answer to the question of human autonomy versus divine control. Instead, this paper will argue that both epics suggest that human life has important elements†¦show more content†¦It would be simple for Gilgamesh to accept this fact and live within the confines of his fate to die. However, he just cannot seem to accept his mortal fate, repeating the fact that, â€Å"The issue of my friend oppresses me†¦Am I not like him? Will I lie down never to get up again?† (Tablet X, 237-242). He sets out to do nothing but chase immortality. A man with much to lose, he leaves his vibrant life as â€Å"the hero, born of Uruk, the gorng wild bull† (Tablet I, 29) and goes on risky adventures, killing monsters and entering forests he is not supposed to enter. A couple times he gets close to achieving immortality, such as when Utanapishtim tests him to see if he can stay awake long enough to become immortal . However even the best efforts of the most powerful man in Uruk are futile and Gilgamesh remains mortal. In fact, as a result of his efforts to change his destiny, Gilgamesh is punished. He loses his closest companion, Enkidu. Thus, Gilgamesh is an example of a character with great promise who spends his life trying to change one of the few predetermined parts of his fate in vain. If even this man, who is one of the most powerful in his society and even slightly immortal does not have the power to change his fate to die, it is clear that no one else can. So Much Social Networking Essay - 574 Words

As of today, there are a bunch of social networking sites available to us. Some we probably don’t even know about, while new ones are in the process of getting made. The most popular ones that we all use to present day, in no particular order, are Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and maybe many more, but the one I want to talk about in this essay is my favorite one of all, Tumblr. Some of us might have a Tumblr account; some of us probably don’t even know what Tumblr is. Well, I would be delighted to tell you. Tumblr is a social networking site and is also a blogging site. You’ll see that mostly teens and young adults use Tumblr, maybe even some older people. When I first got an account I instantly got hooked to it. Some people may tell†¦show more content†¦I see posts and I’m like, â€Å"OMG that is totally me†or, â€Å"Gosh why are these girls so pretty and I’m not?† It’s always mixed emotions when I get on Tumblr. Another downside to Tumblr is the nasty and disturbing images. I get so grossed out by the stuff I see sometimes. One minute there’s pictures of flowers, cute couples, pictures of beautiful scenery, and then there’s the pictures of nasty people self harming themselves and people naked and having sex. It’s just not a pleasant sight to see. How can someone put their stuff out like that? It is just torture. I remember there was this one GIF, which are animated pictures, and someone had a gun pointing in his mouth and he pulls the trigger and you see blood and everything just explode out of his head. Yeah, it’s sad that people commit suicide and cut themselves, but don’t go posting pictures about it, just talk to someone about it. In conclusion, Tumblr is a very good thing, but it can be a very bad thing in my opinion. Even with all the pictures that are nasty and the pictures that make me insecure, I still love Tumblr and will never stop loving it. Wh en people share their thoughts and feelings on Tumblr, it’s not our place to judge them, it’s to encourage them and help them through it. I don’t know how many posts I have seen where I am going through the same thing in this crazy world. After talking about it, I made the decision to writeShow MoreRelatedThe Effects of Facebook to Study Habits1734 Words   |  7 PagesCollege High School Department S.Y. 2011 - 2012 THE EFFECTS OF SOCIAL NETWORKING TO THE STUDY HABITS OF 4TH YEAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS A Thesis Presented To: Mrs. Ma. Past research has shown that entrepreneurship forms a important portion of every economic system in many ways ( Van Praag A ; Versloot, 2007 ) . For illustration, the generating of employment ( Sutton, 1997 ) , economic growing through entrepreneurship ( Carry A ; Thurik, 2003 ) , the importance of little and average sized houses associating to invention ( Biggs, 2002 ) and economic value creative activity ( Parker, 2004 ) . Therefore, it is really of import to cognize every bit much about this whole procedure as possible. This can merely lend to increasing the per centum of successfully started ventures. Due to the fiscal crisis in 2009, the per centum of failures in new ventures has been really high ( Graydon, 2010 ) . As this has great effects for the economic system, it is of import that this per centum goes down in the coming old ages. A batch of research has already been done on this topic, but clear grounds on leading in combination with enterprisers that start up a new comp any is still losing. In order to acquire to cognize more about the leading of enterprisers, this research is aimed at the enterprisers in Amsterdam who have merely started their ain company. The research is done to acquire an reply to the inquiry of what leading traits lead to the biggest opportunity of conveying the new venture to a success. In Amsterdam, there are a batch of new start-ups every twelvemonth and together with the easy handiness to these enterprisers and their companies ; this environing signifiers an outstanding possibility to make research in. Hopefully this survey leads to a more clear vision on the success traits of enterprisers who have to move every bit leaders as good in conveying their start-ups to a success. The following subdivision, which is the theoretical model, will discourse the bing literature on leading traits, the features that distinguish an enterpriser from a non-entrepreneur and recent literature on leading combined with entrepreneurship. Section three is the methodological analysis subdivision and discusses everything that is of import in making this research. For illustration, the research method that is traveling to be used, and the features of the research. Theoretical model 2.1 Leadership In the yesteryear, there have been 100s of articles written on leading. In the 1950 ‘s, Bales based his research on the differentiation between two different leading attacks, viz. : task-oriented manner and the interpersonally oriented manner. The task-oriented manner is frequently associated with the ‘initiation of construction ‘ as construction was what it was all about. The interpersonally oriented manner is related with consideration, and was based on common relationships with followings and so on ( Eagly A ; Johannesen-Schmidt, 2001 ) . Later on, research was frequently aimed at the differentiation between democratic and bossy leading ( Vroom A ; Yetton, 1973 ) and therefore differentiated leaders who allowed followings to take part in determination devising and those who did non ( Eagly A ; Johannesen-Schmidt, 2001 ) . Burns ( 1978 ) argued that some of import leading traits were losing. Three new types of leading were recognized. The transformational leade r was person who stood for individualized consideration, rational stimulation, inspirational motive and idealized influence ( Saunders et al. , 2007 ) . The 2nd type was the transactional leader, person who brought the contingent wages system, to merely honor followings if they had performed good plenty, and merely changed something when it did non work, which was called direction by exclusion ( Saunders et al. , 2007 ) . The last type was the Individualistic leader. This leader was person who likely did non hold adequate accomplishments or motive and therefore avoided doing determinations and being responsible. Apart from spliting leaders into the manners they follow, the can be differentiated on leading traits. There are besides many surveies aimed at the features of people that make them a leader. Although none of these results were precisely the same, the most articles did come to the similar features that differentiate a leader from person who is non. Stogdill ( 1974 ) and House A ; Baetz ( 1979 ) showed that leaders tend to be higher in ( 1 ) intelligence, ( 2 ) laterality, ( 3 ) assurance, ( 4 ) energy and ( 5 ) cognition of the undertaking than non-leaders. Throughout these surveies, the most of import inquiry was what the most of import features of a born leader are. But research besides showed that it is non about holding these features, but how to utilize them in a manner that makes you effectual as a leader. Therefore, Kouzes and Posner ( 2007 ) did research on the leading behavior and found that this behavior can be identified through five factors, viz. ( 1 ) animating a vision that is shared, ( 2 ) patterning the manner, ( 3 ) promoting the bosom of the followings, ( 4 ) disputing the procedure and ( 5 ) enabling others to move. Different types of undertakings frequently ask for different leader features and behaviors. Therefore it is of import that a leader knows how to accommodate to certain fortunes. This makes him other than his followings and therefore person with whom they can interact. Fiedler ( 1967 ) argues through his eventuality theory that the ultimate leading behavior is dependent upon the state of affairs. Thereby, Fiedler has besides stated that experience is more of import than intelligence in some hard state of affairss. This means that leaders besides grow as they gain working experience, and utilize this experience in state of affairss that require more than unconditioned traits. This is really of import because of the fact that the leader influences all kinds of employee variables like organisational committedness, occupation satisfaction, public presentation and so on. You read "Effect Of Leadership Traits On Employee Performance Commerce Essay" in category "Essay examples" ( Kouzes A ; Posner, 2007 ) . Research done on leading has a batch of things in common with research in other Fieldss. One illustration is the research on traits of a specific type of individual. This research is besides done in the field of employees as followings of leaders, but besides for illustration the features of employees in combination with occupation satisfaction and organisational committedness. Another illustration is research on features of people with regard to working-groups or calling direction. One of the most similar types of research compared to surveies on leading is the research on enterprisers. What are the traits of a existent enterpriser? Why is one enterpriser more successful so another? In a batch of ways this research is comparable. 2.2 Entrepreneurship The research on entrepreneurship and leading is really similar in many ways ( Ensley et al. , 2006 ) . The facet that is most similar is the hunt for traits that makes person good and efficient in his function. This type of research is called the â€Å" traits attack † . Throughout the old ages, a batch of research was done on two facets within this traits attack. The first facet is the consequence of the state of affairs on enterprisers ( e.g. Kirzner, 1997 ) or leaders ( e.g. Wofford and Liska, 1993 ) and the 2nd facet is the behavior of enterprisers ( e.g. Shaver and Scott, 1991 ) or leaders ( e.g. Bass, 1990 ) . Merely like with a leader, an enterpriser besides influences the public presentation of his organisation. He can be the 1 who makes the difference between success and failure of the new venture. Some research workers say that this is due to his features that divide him from others, such as risk-taking leaning ( Stewart A ; Roth, 2001 ) , high self-efficacy ( Chen, Greene A ; Crick, 1998 ) or to detect chances that others do non ( Alvarez A ; Busenitz, 2001 ) . But other research workers say that it is due to the behavior of the enterpriser that concerns increase the opportunities to win, so how he uses these features ( Bass, 1990 ) . Either manner, a batch of similarities are found between leaders and enterprisers, which makes it interesting to analyze the combination of the two. 2.3 Uniting leading with entrepreneurship As leaders and enterprisers have a batch in common, it is non a surprise to cognize that the two can be combined. In fact, research has showed that being a leader while get downing a new venture, and therefore being an enterpriser, is of import in order to acquire the most out of the company. As stated above, leaders are able to act upon facets such as the motive, productiveness, and committedness of employees and therefore act upon the overall public presentation ( Kouzes A ; Posner, 2007 ) . As enterprisers are depending to a great extent on the employees in the beginning stage of the new venture, it is of import to convey up the best out of these employees ( aˆÂ ¦ . ) . Different types of leaders have different kinds of influence on their followings. This is an of import thing to maintain in head while making research. Each type of leading has its ain advantages and disadvantages and therefore respond different to a specific state of affairs. For illustration, transformational and magnetic leading are frequently related to a better public presentation of workgroups and organisations ( Saunders et al. , 2007 ) . Another illustration is that a transformational leader wants to be seen as ‘the great leader ‘ and does non pay any attending to the state of affairs or his followings, while a democratic leader is person who joins the group and works every bit difficult as the remainder ( Saunders et al. , 2007 ) . In order to allow the employees work every bit efficient as possible it is of import to cognize what type of leader tantrums best in the start-up. Up till now there has been little old research on the combination of leading traits and entrepreneurship. Therefore there are few researches to trust on for now. What is utile is research that has been done on leading in different state of affairss. One of the most of import in this field is that of Fiedler, who did research on different factors act uponing leading public presentation. For illustration, his cognitive research theory, which was aimed at stressful-situations, leading intelligence and leading experience. Although non everyone was to the full convinced by these theories ( Vecchio, 1992 ) , there have non been any cardinal challenges of the theory. Methodology 3.1 Research scene The scene of this research is based on Amsterdam and its milieus. This is because of the fact that these companies are easy accessible for the research worker. Thereby comes that a batch of the enterprisers in Amsterdam are united in several associations. For illustration, the ‘Ondernemersgroep Amsterdam ‘ , ‘het Ondernemershuis ‘ and MKB Groot Amsterdam. Furthermore, the ‘Kamer new wave Koophandel ‘ , which is Dutch for Chamber of Commerce, is located near the Centre of the metropolis. These associations will likely be able to give all the information that is needed for this research. 3.2 Research features This research will be done through utilizing a cross-sectional attack. This can be described as a ‘snapshot ‘ clip skyline. Due to clip restraints and informations handiness it is likely the best option to utilize. Of class, being able to analyze alterations and developments of certain companies over clip, and therefore utilizing a longitudinal attack, would likely take to even more specified consequences ( Saunders et al. , 2007 ) , but this option would take excessively much clip. So, informations from companies that are in their first or 2nd twelvemonth of concern will be used, this information is still recent and should non take to much problem when roll uping. Thereby comes that the enterprisers should still be clearly cognizant of how they fulfilled their leading functions, with regard to the traits of their leading type. Clear should be that the degree of analysis is on the firm-level and that the research is practice-driven. This research could be valuable to the theoretical scientific discipline as it is seeking to acquire a better apprehension of certain phenomena, but besides in pattern where enterpriser and leader can larn from. By cognizing more about the traits of each function, and particularly for enterprisers how to unite the traits of these two functions could be really valuable ( Ensley et al. , 2006 ) . The social relevancy therefore plays a bigger function than the scientific relevancy. The companies that are traveling to be used in this survey are likely all established within Amsterdam and its milieus. Besides, they have to be registered at one or more of the above mentioned associations so that the entree to the enterprisers and necessary informations will be available. Variables used in this survey will be traits of enterprisers as they are besides perceived as leaders within their company, and the company ‘s public presentation. For many companies the term of one or two old ages after start-up will likely be excessively short to be able to talk of a success or failure of the company. Therefore, the company ‘s public presentation as in being good on path compared to what was planned earlier, the opportunity of lasting the following old ages, and employee public presentation will be used to mensurate the company ‘s state of affairs. 3.3 Restrictions The end of this research is to acquire an indicant of the effects of leading traits on the public presentation of little entrepreneurial ventures that have merely started. In this first bowl, it is of import to allow the employees be every bit efficient as possible, as most of the resources such as money and clip are limited and rivals are frequently watching the company closely to do usage of any errors made. A quantitative attack will be used through looking at company ‘s public presentation in relation to leading traits of the enterprisers. Hopefully, afterwards the cognition on this particular topic will be deepened and be utile for scientific discipline every bit good as in pattern. For illustration, a relation between the traits of a leader that inspires his employees to work towards a certain end every bit efficient as possible is extremely related to a good executing start-up. In Figure 1, a schematical position on the research is given. The normal line between ‘leadership traits ‘ and ‘start-up public presentation ‘ is the chief relation that will be investigated in this research. The flecked lines, between ‘leadership traits ‘ and employee public presentation, and between ’employee public presentation ‘ and start-up public presentation ‘ will likely besides be investigated, although this is still a spot unsure because of the fact that garnering the information will be comparatively hard and there may besides be excessively many other facets that could act upon this relationship. Therefore, a spot more research has to be done foremost on the ’employee public presentation ‘ as a moderating/mediating variable. Figure 1. A schematical position on the variables and their relation to each other. An advantage of this survey can be that the combination of leading and entrepreneurship on the degree of little start-ups is still comparatively bleary and therefore has the possibility to open up a new portion of this field. Thereby comes that this research is chiefly aimed to better the cognition of enterprisers on leading traits that are helpful in the beginning stage of a company, which means that the state of affairs can be seen from the houses point of position, alternatively of a theoretical point of position which sometimes differs excessively much from world ( Saunders at al. , 2007 ) . This survey will hold a batch of restrictions. One of them is the sample size. Through bounds on clip and resources it will be impossible to acquire a really big sample size. Amsterdam will be taken as the chief country of the start-ups of which informations will be gathered. Thereby comes, that there is a bound on the sum of start-ups, as the figure of new ventures depend on all kinds of variables and conditions. Besides, non all informations may be available for every company due to privacy grounds or unwillingness to collaborate of enterprisers. Another restriction can be the usage of Amsterdam as the chief part of entrepreneurial activity. Several factors within Amsterdam and its surrounding can be of influence on the consequences and therefore consequences do non hold to be generalizable in other parts of the universe. Amsterdam being a big metropolis, the capital of the Netherlands, and for illustration a big tourer attractive force. Furthermore, This research is aimed at start -ups and therefore is non generalizable for every company, as several resources such as clip, money and employees are frequently really limited.
